It is one of those things which never cease to amaze me. Why on earth have fake grass - I've already blogged my thoughts on fake topiary but grass is somehow even worse.
Fine if you have to have it as a surface on which to play a football match (I suppose) but in a garden? Stop and think : it feels fake, it does not have that wonderful summery aroma that the real, living stuff does, it isn't the same texture, it looks scarily, unnaturally green and fake. It cannot support any form of life and I do suspect that it is a no-go area as far as supporting any sort of ecosystem goes. We're meant to be a nation of gardeners, aren't we??! Is basic grass maintenance that bad ? I'm no turf buff, I don't do all the moss control, weed control palaver - the grass gets mown, occasionally edged and I cut out the odd thistle when it appears......and I'd not swap my grass for plastic EVER. Fake grass is worse than plastic flowers, and those are things despised by many. Fake turf it is soulless and yes, I hate it from the depths of my heart. Buy turf or grass seed if you want a lawn and enjoy all that the results have to offer. The fake stuff is revolting, only fit for a door mat (and one plastered with mud to hide how it looks!)
